John Hardy’s Contributions to the Team 8 Charity at The Legian Bali’s 20th Anniversary Celebration

December, 2016 – In conjunction with the Legian Bali’s 20th Anniversary Celebration event held earlier in August this year, the renowned Balinese jeweller John Hardy wowed guests with his latest Spring 2016 collection in an engaging display of fashion and bejewelled statement pieces. Throughout the night, a pop-up show room allowed guests to purchase exclusive John Hardy pieces with 20% of the proceeds being donated to The Legian Bali’s in house charity organization, Team 8.

Team 8

Formed by The Legian Management in 2008 with the intention to give back to the beautiful island of Bali, Team 8 was founded by 8 strong and wilful women that make up the hotel’s board of committee. Aiming to create “A Difference for A Child,” Team 8 first started with a visit to SD No. 5 Lokapaksa, a school in the Northern part of Bali in Singaraja, where they have now established a strong support system for the school and children.

Over the years, Team 8 has constantly evolved in their contributions to the children of SD No. 5 Lokapaksa. With initial provision of merely tangible support, Team 8 now also provides sponsorships to the children so that they may eventually change their lives for the better. They also arrange special educational tours and team building social events for the children in order to widen their horizons, while inspiring their spirit and motivation; in hopes that these children will eventually graduate and have the opportunity for full time employment at The Legian to support their families.

Of the many things contributed over the years, Team 8’s biggest life changing impact occurred on April 12, 2010 with the support and generous contribution of all parties, including staff and hotel guests. On this fateful day, a clean water supply was finally established, impacting not only the school and its students but the surrounding community as a whole.

After a fruitful and life changing 8 years, Team 8 hopes to further expand their reach and provide a helping hand to other nearby schools and the children that need it.
